Meet the Staff
Our staff is an integral part of our students’ experience and success. Each staff member plays a vital role in keeping our program a vibrant and exciting endeavor for our students. Our staff also works closely with participants as they complete their undergraduate requirements and facilitate their enrollment in graduate programs. Finally, the McNair staff provides individual assistance and guidance to scholars during each phase of the McNair Program and continual monitoring of their progress toward graduate education.
Team McNair
Susan Bornstein-Forst, Ph.D. is the Director of the McNair Scholars Program and the Principal Investigator of the grant. She manages and oversees the overall operations of the program. She is responsible for the development and implementation of services for students participating in the program. As the program leader, she develops and establishes program policies, leads and evaluates program personnel, oversees the program budget, supervises and assesses the research and internship experiences, and finally ensures the adequacy of the participants’ experience in the program.
Dr. Bornstein-Forst coordinates the selection process of prospective participants to the program. With her numerous years of experience in higher education, she provides the students with intensive counseling on academic, professional, socio-cultural and personal concerns. She also provides expert knowledge of current university degree requirements and college policy to prospective and participating students.

Garry Moise, MS
Garry Moise is the Assistant Director. He is responsible for the planning, coordination, and organization of the program's recruitment efforts, which include: identifying, screening, advising, and selecting prospective students. He is also responsible for management of expenditures of program funds, budget revisions and material inventory. His other responsibilities include the publication and distribution of communication materials such as newsletters, bulletins, brochures, posters and flyers. He maintains the McNair program website and its companion sites. Additionally, he collaborates with the McNair staff in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with other departments and entities on campus.

Teri Durkin, M.S.Ed.
Teri Durkin is the Program Coordinator. Her primary responsibilities lie in assisting McNair participants in preparing for entrance into graduate programs, including program exploration, coordination of GRE and Praxis preparatory courses, and assistance with applications. She also coordinates and teaches the 3 credit Preparing for Research I course during Maymester. In addition, she is responsible for managing Scholar and alumni data, planning and conducting research to support program evaluation, and developing presentations and reports for on- and off-campus constituencies. She also assists the Director and Assistant Director in the coordination of McNair activities and events, as well as working to maintain strong relationships with the entire University community.

Chelsea Sievert
Chelsea Sievert is the Program Specialist for the McNair Program. She manages the following operations for the program: student tracking, recordkeeping, communication and outreach. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree. She majored in communication and also obtained a Spanish minor.
