Media training

Whether you’re seeking news coverage or responding to media inquiries, the Office of Marketing and Communications media training program can help make your next media experience a productive and positive one.

We offer media training that builds on the expertise of our faculty and staff, taking into account not only the latest technologies but the outlets that work best for media relations within the context of Marian’s institutional mission. Our program takes you through a series of important steps and discussions designed to help you work as effectively as possible with news media – whether in proactive or reactive situations.

In addition to preparing you for your next interview, we’ll answer all of your questions, including those most commonly asked in our training sessions, such as:

  • What do I do when a reporter calls?
  • Is there a way to say “no comment” without saying “no comment?”
  • How do news organizations decide with stories to cover?
  • How can the chances for coverage of a particular story be increased?
  • Why do reporters always say they are on deadline?
