Family and Guest Orientation 2015

The goal of the Family and Guest Orientation is to educate family and guests about their new student’s experience at Marian.  This session runs separately from the student program and focuses on a variety of topics of interest to families of new students.  The University is committed to engage, inspire, and connect its newest members to the community.   ​ 

11:00–1:00pm     Lunch is Available

HSC Dining Room

Take time out from moving boxes and grab a bite to eat. A list of Marian options and local selections can be found in your residence hall facility. Also Sodexo will be having a spaghetti lunch, so stop in and enjoy some food. The cost for luncis $7.28. Meal plans will not be accepted until dinner. This is also a good time to visit the bookstore to buy your books for class and Marian logo-wear.


1:30-2:00pm       Off-Campus Student Check In

Stayer Center Dining Room

Representatives from the Business Office, Financial Aid Office, Office of Student Engagement, and Registrar’s Office will be available to answer last minute questions. You may purchase parking permits, pick up student ID cards, and make payments to the Business Office.


2:30–3:30pm     Opening Pinning Ceremony

Sadoff Gymnasium

This ceremony is to introduce and welcome you to your college experience.  This tradition has been in place for over 10 years, as students are pinned members of the Marian University community.  Friends and families are also encouraged to attend this celebration. 


3:45–5:30pm       Family Orientation: “Engage, Connect, Inspire”

Sadoff Gymnasium

Please join us in a welcome from the President and members of administrative staff.  This interactive session will look at how family members can be an asset in helping their student engage and connect in the Marian community, as well as gain an understanding of how the University makes a commitment to you and your student. 


5:30–7:00pm       Dinner– It’s time to reconnect!

HSC Dining Room

You’re invited to reconnect with your family at dinner! Tonight’s meal will be the start to students using their meal plans, so be sure to have your student ID. In addition, Sodexo and the Student Involvement Office have sponsored two meal tickets for your family’s use. Additional meals can be purchased at the door for $8.86 per meal.
